Nilesh Vadalia – Chief Executive Officer and President
A 25 year veteran in the industry, Nilesh has an immense knowledge base to contribute to the Company. Having been involved in all stages of the lifecycle with several different companies, he founded Abcons Corporation in 2000 to offer an end to end solution to stakeholders. His experience started with independent, limited service hotels working for family, hands on all the different departments. This raw experience provided him the basis to apply his education and intellect to elevate service and operation levels to enable him to be sought out to manage limited, select and full service, branded hotels. His foray includes Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice, Wyndham and La Quinta. Having worked with all the major brands, he has been instrumental in instilling the DNA in Abcons that sets it apart from its competitors.
In his spare time, Nilesh is an avid volleyball player. He also supports his son’s golf ambitions, who is a far superior player than his father.
Sanjiv Melwani CHO – Chief Operating Officer
An Economics and Financial Analysis graduate from the UK with international experience, Sanjiv brings financial depth and formality to the organization. He joined Abcons in 2004 and has been instrumental in successfully executing several development and re-positioning projects for the company. Prior to Abcons, Sanjiv worked for Axis for 10 years, where he was involved in the financial management and expansion of their extensive portfolio, which included all the major brands.
Sanjiv’s financial and operations knowledge base ensures the hotels in the portfolio are operated to deliver results that exceed stakeholders’ expectations.
Sanjiv has 2 children who are excellent tennis players. As a squash player, he struggles to give them a good game!
Upendra Vora CPA – Financial Controller
As a certified public accountant with over 40 years of experience, Upendra has implemented operating procedures that maintain detailed control and reporting at each of the hotels. In addition to controlling the purse strings, he champions the budget development and variance analysis process. The management team has real time access to detailed line item deviations from budget, which provides clarity for corrective actions.
Stakeholders have the assurance of prompt and accurate reporting of the management’s performance along with the knowledge that all statutory obligations will be fulfilled in a timely manner.
Upendra has been involved in the hospitality industry for most of his career, having consulted for Encore and Pineapple Hospitality.
Upendra has recently become a grandfather. He is dedicated to his temple and community, serving on the boards of Indo American Chamber of Commerce and IANT.
Minal Padallia – Design and Development
Drawing from 15 years of experience, Minal spearheads the design development of Abcons’ new construction and renovation projects. She is vested in ensuring that the vision of the stakeholders is married with franchise required standards to create a product that is not only relevant, but on the cutting edge of current trends. She has perfected the art of directing the process for the stakeholders using cost benefit analysis for each major decision. One of the most focused on considerations has always been the longevity of the design. Through this approach, the investment made will be protected through multiple PIP cycles. Moreover, the guest experience is always elevated beyond their expectations creating unparalleled loyalty.
Minal has a passion for cooking. Her dinner parties are a true culinary experience as she is always creative with her choice of cuisine from different regions.
Janice Vickery – Regional Sales
With 25 years of experience in Sales and Marketing, Janice is an incredible asset to the Abcons Team. She joined Abcons after working for HPN Global. She worked at the Hurst Conference Center as their Director of Sales, where she ramped the newly opened 60,000 square feet center to profitability in their second year of operations. Her experience prior to this has been directly with hotel sales, having worked at Remington Corporation with their portfolio of Embassy Suites, as Regional Director of Sales for Marriott for 10 years and La Quinta for 3 years.
As a Marketing graduate from Oral Roberts University, Janice is also a Certified Meeting Planner and a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives and Meeting Planners International.
Her breadth and depth of experience has been instrumental in developing the sales processes and establishing a formidable sales team for each of the properties. She leads by example, conducting in depth market research, collecting intelligence of each of the key demand generators and then establishing and executing an aggressive sales strategy.
Her love for traveling is what drew her to the hospitality industry and she continues to use every opportunity to explore new destinations. She also enjoys gardening and a good game of golf with her husband.
Carrie Lee – Revenue Manager
Having held several management positions prior to Abcons, Carrie joined the team specifically to develop her career in the hospitality industry. Starting as a Front Desk Representative, she quickly showed her talent for management and delivering results. Revenue Management is her true passion, where she has taken to Abcons’ sophisticated systems and processes to deliver impressive RevPAR penetration growth for the portfolio.
Carrie has 2 adorable children that keep her hands full.
Manoj Patel – Accounting and Administration
Manoj began his career in retail and has also worked in the food and hospitality industry. He quickly gravitated to accounting and administration and has more than 20 years of experience in this role.
With the direction of the Financial Controller, Manoj is responsible for front line personnel, implementation of SOPs across the whole company, information technology systems for control and reporting, adherence to financial control processes, data collection, periodic financial reporting to each level of management, monthly reporting and analysis for stakeholders, centralized accounts payable system and accounts receivable management. An important element of Abcons’ SOP is regular drill downs on each property with a focus on providing General Managers support towards successful outcomes. This positive approach versus threats of internal audits provides a collusive, inclusive environment to financial management.
Michelle Massiatte – Human Resource Manager
At the heart of Abcons Corporation is its people. Michelle is the epitome of a “People Person”. This was recognized very early in her career at Abcons. She was a natural leader and was quick to learn the role of managing people.
Her role as HR manager includes implementation of HR strategies, processes and controls at each hotel. A very important function is to supervise and support the talent search for Abcons’ continued growth. Hand in hand with this is the training programs for each of the associates. Michelle is charged with working with the General Managers to identify future leaders and then work with them to establish a clear career development path. The employee review and continuing training programs are an integral part of Abcons’ successful DNA.
In addition, Michelle supervises the benefits, payroll and statutory compliance functions across the portfolio.
